The Path To Home

"I turn at last to paths that lead home and where the road then takes me I cannot tell. We came all this way but now comes the day to bid you farewell."

Well my first semester at a university has finally ended. The semester has went by so fast. From the struggles of adjusting to school, making lifetime friends, and late nights studying for exams this semester has been my best yet. I can't until the adventures that next semester has to offer. Honestly this semester has had lots of ups and downs. The way I like to look at it though is: without the bad you won't be able to appreciate the good. I know this is a little cliche but it's true. I've struggled learning Spanish but it only makes me appreciate the language even more when I am speaking to Spanish speakers. I've met some people that couldn't care less about me but it only makes me appreciate my friends even more. A college students diet of pasta, sandwiches and water has made made love my mother's cooking even more. So you see the hardest parts of the journey, make the rest that much better.

As I mentioned before my roommate and I had our share of struggles in the beginning of the semester but it just made getting along at the end of the semester so much better. We decided to spend our last few days together out and about on the town. The pictures above were from our day at the Getty Villa. The Getty has so much beautiful art. Honestly I wish I could just live there and pretend to be from the ancient Roman days. At the Villa, there is the theatre area. I went up to the top and began talking to my "subjects." Absolutely no one was there.  "Citizens!" I said "This is Sparta!" I know I a dork but I though it was absolutely hilarious and so did my roommate. After a day at the museum we went to see the last Hobbit. If you have not seen this movie you just need to see it! It's absolutely enchanting and is certain to make you tear up a little bit. Not only that but the visuals are just captivating. I am so excited because my school's newspaper is letting me write a little fashion post about possible fashion trends I spotted  in the  movie. I have included the best song in the movie in this blogpost. This song captures how I feel about leaving this semester. Goodbye to all my friends that I have made this semester. I hope in the future our paths cross again.

Smile Because It Happened

"Don't cry because it's over. Smiled because it happened."

One of my favorite quotes by Dr. Seuss. As Thanksgiving, Christmas, final exams and paper all rapidly approach a small feeling of sadness overcame me. This semester has been such a roller coaster ride from adjusting to a new university to trying to find a group of friends to fit in. I can't say it has all been rainbows and butterflies, there have been times where I felt all alone or like a I couldn't accomplish what I had in mind. Looking back at the semester, I am so happy I experienced it all. When me and my roommate first moved in together we got a long really well; mid-semester our relationship was "When are you turning off the light?" or "Can I turn the fan on?"'; as the semester ends, we do photo shoots, run to the movies and just casually hang out. Next semester I'll get a new roommate and it will all end well. I am afraid that the future semester may not be as great as this semester but there is nothing to be afraid of. You know why? Because it'll be better. The only reason the future is scary is because it is the unknown but looking back at the past, I am always concerned about the future and it has always proven to be amazing. So the future could only be all that I hoped to be. Yes, I will be sad when the semester ends in two weeks but I am happy because of the friendships I've made, the classes I've taken and how much I've personally grown.

Now time for a funny story! Since I have been super sappy, I would like to tell you a somewhat funny story. So these photos were supposed to be for my roommate's project. We went to take the photos and as we were bike riding, I looked out and saw balloons. I told my roommate those balloons are just so pretty and as I was bike riding I ran into them, torn them off the post they were at, and some popped on my hand. It was the most hilarious event that had happened to me all day. So my roommate took them since I had torn them off anyways and decided to use them for our photo shoot, which as you can see was a wonderful idea. As we were taking photos, this man came up to us and introduced himself. My roommate and I were confused and just said hello. He came up to us to shake our hand, when I gave him my hand he tried to kiss it! Luckily, I stopped him before he did. My roommate on the other hand wasn't so lucky. He actually kissed her hand!!!! Ahh! Besides that the photo shoot went well. On our way back though, I fell off my bike. Just a word of advice, never bike ride and wear heels at the same time. I have horrible scratches and bruises on my leg but I thought to myself "Eeh don't' worry about it. We will be home soon." WRONG! My friend called me up and invited me to see the Hunger Games for free. So I decided to go! I showed up in this beautiful outfit and a bleeding leg. He was probably kind of freaked out but it turned out to be a really great night! I can't wait for the adventures the future holds.
